> My Journey as a Software and Data Engineer
I'm Brad Byard, a passionate software and data engineer with a deep enthusiasm for building innovative solutions that make a meaningful impact. My career has taken me from supporting IT infrastructure to developing cutting-edge applications that serve real users.
Starting with a foundation in IT operations and technical support, I've evolved into a full-stack developer and data engineer. I thrive on learning new technologies and solving complex problems, whether that's architecting scalable cloud solutions, optimizing databases, or creating intuitive user interfaces.
I'm motivated by the challenge of turning ideas into reality. Whether it's a mobile app with 50+ active users (like LifeRunner Notes) or a sophisticated web platform managing rental properties, I'm committed to delivering quality solutions that solve real problems.
I believe in continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies. I leverage modern AI tools like ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot to enhance my productivity while maintaining code quality. For me, development isn't just about writing code—it's about creating experiences that users love.
User-Centric Design
Every project starts with understanding the user's needs and pain points
Quality Over Quick Fixes
I prioritize clean, maintainable code and scalable architecture
Continuous Learning
Always exploring new technologies and improving my craft
Collaboration
I work well with teams and value clear communication
I'm a country guy at heart, and unlike most IT professionals, I live for the outdoors. Hunting whitetail deer and fishing are my passions—there's something about being in nature that grounds me and helps me think clearly about complex problems. I'm the third generation on my family's farm, which shaped my work ethic and values.
When I'm not coding or in the field, I'm spending time with my beautiful wife and daughter. Family is everything to me, and I'm grateful to work in a field that allows me to provide for them while pursuing my passions. I completed my Master's in Software Engineering at the University of Michigan Dearborn, where I deepened my understanding of advanced software design patterns and data engineering principles.
